10/29 - Intro to garment sewing: Elastic waist skirt

In this workshop, you'll learn basic garment sewing techniques. Skills you will gain include: taking your body measurements, translating them to fabric, cutting, pinning, sewing seams, pressing, creating a casing for elastic, and hemming.

 

Level: beginner, with some previous experience using a sewing machine.

Fabric- 2 yards of woven fabric such as quilting cotton or linen

Fabric Scissors

Straight pins

18" ruler (or longer)

A marking tool, such as tailor's chalk, water soluble marker, pencil, or colored pencil

Measuring tape
