8/13- Zipper Pouch Workshop

In this 3 hour workshop, students will create a lined zippered pouch while learning the following skills:

• How to use a sewing pattern to cut fabric

• How to sew a zipper

• How to sew a gusset to create a flat bottom bag

• General sewing tips and guidelines.
  

Level: Confident beginners, students should have some prior experience with a sewing machine, such as an intro class.

Required Supplies*

Fabric: 1/4 yard for the outside, plus 1/4 yard for the lining. The fabric can be quilting cotton or cotton canvas.

Zipper: One plastic #3 coil zipper. Length should be 10" or longer. 

Rotary cutter and/or fabric scissors.

Straight pins

Optional: 1 yard of light weight or medium weight fusible interfacing to make a sturdier bag.
